Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
I have reviewed the information that was sent to, me by Mr. Justin Aubert of your office, describing the problem
corrections that were performed or implemented at the above -named permitted site.
United Companies has provided a photo of the posted sign. The problem related to lack of a permit ID sign has been
corrected. Please ensure that the sign is maintained and the information posted thereon is kept current. Also, please
ensure that the affected area boundaries are maintained.
United Companies has provided a copy of its Gunnison- and Crested Butte -area weed control plan (which possibly
augments an existing weed control plan). The problem related to presence of noxious weeds, and lack of an effective
weed control plan, has been corrected. The details of the plan appear to be sufficient to provide effective control of
current and future infestations. Please ensure that it is implemented in a timely way. (Note: This plan was reviewed
and approved as a technical revision for another permit. Since this new plan replaces an existing plan, the new plan
may become part of this permit without the necessity of a technical revision.) Please be reminded that weed control
activities that are performed and their results should be reported in the permit annual report.
Thank you for the information and the timely corrections. If you have any questions, I may be reached at the
Division's Durango field office: 691 CR 233, Room A -2, Durango, CO 81301; telephone 970 - 247 -5193.
Sincerely,
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Ec: Steve Shuey, DRMS
(c: \09 -12 docs\rozman pb corr /rco)
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
