After
your visit I received an inspection report from you where you listed several items that needed to be
corrected. Please find below a list of the items needed corrected and the actions taken for each.
1. Required permit ID sign was not observed.
CORRECTIVE ACTION - Please find enclosed a picture of the sign that is posted at this location.
2. The operator is importing backfill material generated outside the permit.
CORRECTIVE ACTION - Please find enclosed narrative requesting a technical revision allowing
such activity moving forward and the appropriate fee.
3. There are noxious weed infestations in the site.
CORRECTIVE ACTION - Please find enclosed a copy of the Weed Management Plan that United
is committed to. This plan was also reviewed by the Gunnison Weed Control District.
4. The old ponds should have been reclaimed to their final gradient numerous years ago.
CORRECTIVE ACTION - United just acquired this permit during 2008 and this problem existing
prior to taking it over. United understands that the current slope of the old pond banks are a
concern and we are committed to fix them. Our plan to correct the slopes is to lower the water
table (if necessary) and by utilizing a backhoe slightly expand the shoreline until a 3:1 slope is
created. This process will also remove the tamarisks on the slopes. We have a large stockpile of
topsoil and another stockpile of naturals that we will also use to rebuild this area. The sloping is
scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2010 and the seeding to occur in the Fall of 2010.
-0
5. Fuel and various fluids are stored onsite without adequate secondary containment.
CORRECTIVE ACTION - The diesel tank with the earth berm has been removed and replaced
with a smaller 500 gallon diesel tank that is inside of a horse trough which provides adequate
