In 1997 the State approved the Carol Ann Pit mining plan which <br />included the following seed mixture as part of the reclamation plan; <br />Species Pounds Loose Seed Per Acre <br />Smooth Brome 4.0 <br />Bluebunch Wheatgrass 2.0 <br />Ephraim Crested Wheatgrass 2.0 <br />Barton Western Wheatgrass 3.0 <br />Sheep Fescue 3.5 <br />Indian Ricegrass 3.5 <br />Total 18.0 pls/acre <br />_ The original land owner Carol Schmidt, married Bob Newby and now Bob manages the _ <br />property. Bob met with the local representative of the US Soil Conservation Service and <br />they have selected a new seed mixture to better fit Bob's post mining growing plan. The <br />proposed seed mixture is as follows; <br />Species Pounds Loose Seed Per Acre <br />Alfalfa 20.0 <br />Brome grass 1.65 <br />Orchard grass 1.65 <br />Timothy grass 1.65 <br />Russell oats 80.0 <br />Total 105 pls/acre
