Box 46667 <br />Denver, CO 80201-6667 <br />Re: Seneca II-W Mine (Permit No. C-1982-057) <br />Bond Release Application No. 2 (SL-2) <br />Dear Mr. Fulton: <br />Seneca Coal Company, LLC has applied for a bond release at the Seneca II-W Mine. The bond release <br />application was found complete by this Division on August 27, 2009. Seneca Coal Company, LLC has <br />submitted a request for Phase I Bond Release on 1,166.2 acres of regraded lands within the Seneca II- <br />W permit area. The request applies to a major portion of the disturbed/reclaimed land within the <br />permit area, including approximately 1152 acres of land regraded to approximate original contour, and <br />14.2 acres of permanent roads. The operator is requesting release of $4,864,928.00 of bond, from the <br />total bond amount of $11,117,348.00. The permit area is located approximately seven (7) miles south <br />of Hayden, CO, off Routt County Road #53. The surface ownership is Federal, state and private, and <br />the coal mined was Federal and private. <br />We plan to conduct the required bond release inspection of the site beginning at 8AM, Wednesday <br />October 14, 2009.
