SOUTHWEST
LAND SERVICES, INC..
11 August 2008
Bob Oswald
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
691 County Road, 233
Durango, Colorado, 81301
RE: Permit # M-? 064; Sandco Pit (Regular 112 operation)
Dear Bob,

O.Z
SEP 0
c Lh.;j
Safety

This is a request for a Technical Revision to the above referenced permit.
The TR is,proposed to allow screening of topsoil from the excavation site, east of the
Animas River. -This topsoil is a surplus resource above the amount required for
reclamation.of the affected area indicated in the above referenced permit.
The stockpiling, screening of topsoil material, and loading operation will take place
within the already designated affected area of the mining plan. The only new element
will be the screening stage. The transport of topsoil material off site will be by way of an
existing road that accesses the permit site from the south, across the land of one of the
permit owners and along an access and existing roadway easement and is in sufficient
condition for this operation. This road is existing and will remain in existence to serve
the two properties after the mining operation is completed. -
The site will be used seasonally for this activity from April to November. Only portable
equipment will be used.
Of the existing permit, the situations and conditions listed in the Exhibits will remain the
same with the minor revisions that follow:
Exhibit D=Mining Plan: some of the excavated material (a portion of the topsoil)
will be processed by screening in the affected area and transported off site by an alternate
existing road/access. I ' -
Exhibit E-Reclamation costs: not affected sihce processing. takes place on site in
an area already accounted for in the overall reclamation plan; stockpiles will be stabilized
for the winter.
Exhibit M-Other Permits: a current application for a land use permit change is
before La Plata County and approval is forthcoming.
Please feel freeAo contact us with questions or comment.,
r
rely,
ri imm , Agent

LAND USE PLANNING & PERMITTING
P.O.
