Rationale for Recommendation for Approval <br />Over Objections; Regular 112 Construction Materials Permit Application, <br />McStone Aggregates, LLC. <br />Mud Creek Pit, File No. M-2008-010 <br />May 23, 2008 <br />Introduction <br />RECEIVED` <br />MAY 2 9 2008 <br />Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety <br />On May 23, 2008 the Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety ("Division") issued its <br />recommendation for approval of a 112 Construction Materials Permit Application, over objections. <br />This document is intended to provide a basis for the Division's recommended approval over various <br />concerns and reasons for objection to the Mud Creek Pit application, File No. M-2008-010. <br />The McStone Aggregates permit application was found complete and considered filed with the <br />Division on March 7, 2008. The site is located approximately 2 miles west of the town of Mancos, <br />Montezuma County, Colorado. The property is located in Section 36, Township 36 North, Range 14 <br />West of the Tenth Principal Meridian. The proposed permit area is 154.4 acres. The proposed post- <br />mined land use for the site is cropland and pastureland. Reclamation at the site includes some grading <br />of the disturbed acreage, plus topsoil replacement and seeding and fertilization in areas designated as <br />pastureland to re-establish vegetation. <br />1.
