yi
J
Fremont County Weed Control
615 Macon Avenue
Canon City, Colorado 81212
719-276-7317
jphil@fremontco. com
8 ~ ~~~~
March 12, 200
RE ~ Control or Eradication of Noxious Weeds '3 ~ ~ C)ly
Land Manager,
Fremont County rand the Fremont County Weed Advisory Board appreciate
your cooperation and support of our recently revised Noxious Weed Controi
Program. Last year was a good year for weeds and a good year for increases
in control throughout our Two-County (Custer & Fremont) area. Our
successes in the future will require your continued support rand enhanced
communications in 2008 for stote-mondoted control of noxious weeds.
Due to increases in control efforts region-wide, I would greatly appreciate
your help in scheduling to benefit a greater number of cooperators. There
are literally millions of weeds, hundreds of Innd managers rand one fully
engaged Weed Manager. This year, I hope to help as rater season through
cost-share funding that we have acquired over the w
State and Federal Grant Programs.
To accomplish, as much control rand eradication possible, all weeds will be
scheduled for best contro/ timing to fit their growth cycles. For example,
White Top is an early emerging weed that requires our first attention in the
Spring. Musk Thistle grows at the same time as the Knapweeds, followed by
Canada thistle rand then Tamarisk in Irate Summer. Considerable research and
experience has shown that proper control scheduling reduces the amount of
time, effort rand expense.
Therefore, I have attached our modified "Land Manager Noxious Weed
Control Preferences" form for our enhanced use. This vent I ask each of
vu ~ v MJJVrr -
with a direct hone co//and discussion with me rat 719-276-7317. I want to
schedule all opportunities to control our local weeds and I greatly appreciate
your assistance.
J.R. Phillips Manager
