3.0 RECLAMATION PLAN <br />This reclamation plan addresses rehabilitation of the Munger Canyon Mine <br />located in Garfield County, Colorado. The area is located in a zone of transition <br />between the regional ecosystems known as salt-bush desert and pinyon juniper <br />woodland. Precipitation is about 10 inches annually and soils are derived primarily <br />from sandstone alluvium/colluvium. Although precipitation is low, soils are more <br />favorable for reclamation than the shale-derived soils of many salt desert areas. <br />Land uses prior to mining activity have been grazing (rangeland) and wildlife <br />habitat; the same land uses are proposed for the post-mining landscapes (See <br />Sections 4.1.2.1 through 4.1.2.3). At the Loma Loadout pre and post-mining land <br />use is industrial. <br />A detailed time table for the completion of each major step in the reclamation <br />plan is presented in Table 3.7-2, reclamation was completed in the summer of 2007. <br />Sites that have been reclaimed include the mine portal and facilities area, <br />power line, the upper segment of the road as discussed in Subsection 3.3.2, the <br />waste rock stockpile, and the sediment pond and a portion of the topsoil storage <br />areas (Figure 2.2-1 ). The lower segment of the road will be modified and retained <br />for the post mining land, as discussed in Subsection 3.3.1. Of the 15.7acres to be <br />reclaimed, 10.8 acres have been previously disturbed. Removal of topsoil was <br />confined, therefore, to the 3.6 acres of new disturbance associated with the waste <br />rock disposal area.
