Box 24
Blanca, Colorado 81123
RE: Mesita Hill Volcanic Scoria Pit
Our file no. 77-227
Dear Mr. Oringdulph:
Enclosed please find the receipt for the check for $1,050.00 in payment of
three years of annual fees for the above captioned operation. Our Division
also received the annual report that brings the mining of the pit up to date.
I have reviewed the report and find it to be adequate under the terms of the
Mined Land Reclamation Act.
As I mentioned in my inspection report of Spetember 16, 1981, I feel that the
bond of $16,700.00 for a mining operation of this magnitude is probably too
small. Rather than trying to suggest an upward modification of the bond using
solely my own calculations, I would suggest that you submit new cost cal-
culations for the reclamation of the operation taking total disturbanc: as
well as current costs into account. I do not feel that this is an extremely
urgent matter, but I would like to take this possible bond revision to the
Board for their consideration by the February 24-25, 1982 meeting.
Please call me if I may be of any further assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
Mark S.
