Lang
Drvison Director
REt Annual Subsidence Report (Year-end Report); Nest Blk Mine; Permit No. C-
80-007
Dear Mr. Barbe;
The Division has reviewed the Annual Subsidence Report, year-end report; for the
West Elk Hine. The survey was completed during October 1994 and the report was
submitted to the Division on April 28, 1995. The report presents a clear
rendition of the subsidence monitoring data for the West Elk Mine. The
presentation ie straightfoward and comprehensive.
To date the maximum observed subsidence is 8.55 feet. This vertical displacement
was observed in a location overlying multiple seam mining within both the F and
B seams. This observed subsidence compares conservatively with the maximum
projected multiple seam subsidence of 10.22 feet.
The Division has the following questions and comments regarding this report:
1. Point 91 was noted ae being "pulled out". Please explain.
2. Structures that are monitored during a reporting period, i.e. Mautz
cabin, please show the location of the structures on the Subsidence
Monitoring Network map.
Please respond to the above questions by August 31, 1995.

Environmental
Specialist
LEJ/007SU0. 1094
