DMG Permit No. M-88-112 <br />February 2002 Monthly Sampling <br />Dear Mr. Dillie: <br />All required sampling was <br />The water treatment plan[ discharged a total of 8,057,200 gallons of water (24.73-acre feet) into the Rito Seco <br />during the month. <br />All surface water stations were inspected weekly and RS-3, RS-4 and RS-6 was found to be dry. <br />Vacuum on the lysimeters was verified and no water was present to sample. <br />The piezometers on the main embankment of the tailing impoundment were checked on February 28, the <br />piezometers were dry or contained below 12 inches of water. <br />The west pit piezometers were measured for depth to water on February 28, with the following results: <br />BF-1 was 28.49 ft., BF-2 was 32.44 ft., BF-4 was 25.89 ft. and BF-6 was 31.77 ft. Other piezometers in the West <br />Mine area were also checked with the following results: PW-1 was 29.33 ft., PW-2 was 29.59 ft., PW-3 was 36.83 <br />ft. and PW-4 was 31.59 ft. <br />The underdrain was measured at approximately 41 gpm. <br />On February 28 an attempt was made to pump the collection pond leak detection system. The system was frozen <br />and we were unable [o get a measurement. <br />The seeps remain dry. <br />With DMG approval a total of 548,100 gallons (1.68-acre fee[) of water was pumped from the evaporation - - <br />system collection ponds to the tailings impoundment during February. . <br />Sincere) ` ~~ ,/~ <br />av~ E.
