04/29/92 16:21 $ 17196'23363
BRTTLE M7.G0LC
Ilf IIIlilliilllllii
P.01

.rm,
d
Bruce Humphries - 2 - April 29, 1992
borderline between SM and SC classifications, and that SM type soil may have
permeabilities as high as 5 x 10-4 cm/sec, which is the value supplied by
SRK.
If Battle Mountain Gold has not performed any more sophisticated permeability
tests on the type 2 material, these tests should be required. If appropriate
permeability studies have been performed, the results need to be supplied to
the Division for review. I would recommend "falling head" type permeability
tests be performed on the drain layer material, both in the field, and in a
lab, and with sufficient frequency to determine an accurate permeability for
the material.
ACS/yjb
Enclosure(s)
cc: Jim Pendleton
Harry Posey
Jim Stevens
Larry Oehler
2907E
