Long
Drvivnn Dueaar
I also requested and received from Lambert & Associates the results of the direct shear tests used in the
preparation of the slope stability analysis. The results of my review concur with both Goff Engineering and
Lamberts. The general configuration of the pile approaches the design configuration and where it does not,
the pile does not affect the stability of the pile.
I ran an independent analysis of the existing configuration utilizing the parameters that were obtained during
the field study on February, 1999. My analysis used the Von Gunten software and I performed a Simplified
Bishop's analysis and found [he factor of safety [o be well above [he 1.5 required by our regulations. The
results were similar to the Lambert's study.
Goff Engineering's report indicate that the riprap channel lining had not yet been applied to the drainage ditch
nor had the special road crossing been completed. The Division requests that these two items be completed
prior to the end of [he construction season, but no later than October, 1999.
Should you have any questions regarding this matter or are in need of additional information, please contact
me.
Sincerely,
C.f.,~ . ~c~. miv~,L
arry B. anney
Environmental Protection Spedtalist
