Acreages have been calculated based on digitized information from permit Map
2.05.3-5 Soil Sample Location and Soil Distribution Plan. An additional 1.4 acres were disturbed during
2005 resulting from the implementation of soil borrow area BA-3. BA-3 is approved for 2.7 acres of
disturbance and additional soil may be recovered during 2006 if additional material is needed.
All required backfilling and grading was completed prior to 2005. Work completed during 2005 included
spreading topsoil on 7.1 acres and seeding and mulching of 10.8 acres. This soil material came from BA-3.
Portions of the areas receiving soil had been previously covered; therefore, the variance in acres covered vs.
acres seeded. Location of sail material placement is shown on Map AAR-l.
Areas seeded included portions of areas C-1, W-5 and W-6. Seeding of the disturbance azea resulting from
cleanout of pond 9 was also completed in 2005. This work is referenced by location on Map ARR-1.
Seeded areas by year are also shown on Map ARR-1 2005. The areas seeded in 2005 called for and were
broadcast seeded with the seed mixture for rangeland post-mining land use areas (Table 2.05.4-2) at 18-20
]bs. PLS/ac. This was accompanied with an application of certified weed-free barley straw at 1.5 tons/acre.
The majority of the seed was purchased in 2004 with additional seed purchased in 2005. Additional straw
mulch was purchased in 2005. Seed and straw certifications are appended to this report.
Clean-out of Pond 9 was completed during the first quarter of 2005. A minor revision to the permit was
submitted and approved by the Division allowing a dry out area for sediment upslope from pond 9. Drier
sediment was hauled to a portion of area W-5 than has been an area experiencing ponding after precipitation
events. Analysis showed that this material, with fertilizer enhancements, could be considered a suitable soil
substitute material (Test results are attached to this report) After spreading, this material was covered
with soil from bortow area BA-3.
