I am interested in having your analysis of the
submitted information for two reasons. First, if there are any problems with procedure or
methodology concerning their inspection and report information, it would be best to deal
with it at the very beginning. Second, during my February 24, 1998 field inspection, I had
observed what appeared to be several potential problems with the gob pile construction.
I had talked to you previously about this issue and the result was a letter to Bowie
Resources, dated March 4, 1998 (attached). Bowie Resources sent a sieve analysis for the
underdrain rock on March 16, 1998 (attached). Bowie Resources sent their first inspection
and compaction report to the Division, dated April 24, 1998 (attached). I have the
engineer's report on the underdrain construction, but I have not attached that to this
memo. If you need any information, including Bowie No. 2's permit requirements for the
gob pile, please let me know. Thanks!
cc: Larry Routten
Attachments
c:\wp61 \bowie2\gobmem2
