The
data submitted by Colowyo indicate normal seasonal fluctuations in quantity and quality.
Monitoring data did not indicate any significant impacts from mining, and the data fall
within the baseline ranges for all sites.
Monitoring is conducted at the following locations:
Surface Water
Upper (upstream) and Lower (downstream) Goodspring Creek
Taylor Creek (downstream from mining)
Ground Water
Gossard Well (downgradient of the loadout)
A-6 Well (upgradient) and North Goodspring Well (downgradient)
The Division did not notice any trends that were problematic from a quantity or quality
aspect. There were a number of problems with monitoring program compliance at the site.
Please explain these omissions of data or failures to monitor. If this information is recorded
at the mine site, please ensure it gets reported on the forms the Division receives as well.
These items follow:
1. There were no temperatures recorded for the New Upper Goodspring Creek
(NUGC) or the Lower Goodspring Creek (LGC) locations in May and July of 1993.
2. There is no flow measurement reported for NUGC or LGC for July 1993.
3. It does not appear as though Colowyo conducted required monitoring at the Taylor
Creek surface water site during the third quarter of 1993.
