Box 591
Somerset, Colorado 81434
Dear Ms. Wel t:
The Division has received your letter dated October 25, 1989 which indicates
West Elk Coal Company's (WECC) interest in controlling weeds on the Mount
Gunnison No. 1 Kline site. While the Division is encouraged at WECC's
intention to control weeds, we would also inform you that WECC must submit a
revision application to address inclusion of a weed control plan as part of
the present permit application. This plan should include information
presented in your letter as well as the following:
A map showing locations of infestations or weed patches and
their proximity to nearby drainages;
2. A qualitative description of how dense the weed patches are
and what other vegetation is interspersed among the weeds;
3. Product labels of the herbicides to be used;
4. A more precise delineation of what herbicides will possibly
be used (your letter notes possible use of ". .a similar
(herbicide. .");
5. The ratios that herbicides, if used as a mixture, will be
blended at;
6. What methods and equipment to be used in applying
herbicides;
2t 5 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203.2273 Tel. (303) 866-3567
