BASIC INDiISTRIES, INC. , CJ~]T DIVISION <br />The Goodwin Gypsum quarry is an intermittent operation which supplies the <br />Boettcher cement plant at the rate of about 18,000 tons per year. The <br />Boettcher plant temporarily suspended production on October 1, 1982, un- <br />til market demand for cement increases. Consequently, there has been no <br />production from the Goodwin Gypsimm property since that time. The only <br />activity that has occurred is the start of reclamation on approximately <br />six (6) acres of mined-out area and the grading of a new r*7iaher operating <br />area near the west outcrops. The accompanying map, bcc-1367a, ancithe in- <br />formation presented is intended to comply with Rule 2.41 of the Rules and <br />Regulations. <br />(1) Location and Number of Acres Affected During the Year. <br />The affected acres for this report total 40 acres under bond. Actual <br />disturbance has been only 2.5 acres in the grading of the ne~a crusher <br />operation area, plus the old quarry and crusher site of less than 10 <br />acres. <br />(2) Location and Number of Acres Reclaimed During the Year. <br />There are no areas considered as reclaimed at this time. <br />(3) Location and Number of Acres in the Various Stages of Reclamation. <br />Approximately six (6) acres of the quarry site in the southeast por- <br />tion of the property have been graded and planted to native grasses <br />as recommended by the United States Soil Conservation Service. <br />(4) Species of Vegetation Planted, the Location and Date Planted. <br />The mined-out quarry near the southeast corner of the outcrop areas <br />was planted with the following native grass seed mix recommended by <br />the United States Soil Conservation Service: <br />Little Bluestem <br />Sideoats Grams <br />Indian Ricegrass <br />5 lbs. per acre <br />6 <br />8 <br />True Mountain Mahogany 1/2 <br />Blue Grama 1/2 (at request of surface owner) <br />The planting was done on April 29, 1983. <br />
