This report replaces the 2001 Geotechnical Report dated
December 31, 2001, and responds to questions and comments provided in your January 7, 2002 letter.
Discussion has been added to respond to your questions/comments and the figures revised per your
recommendation.
The waste rock dumps at the Pitch Reclamation Project have been inspected monthly, except when winter
conditions prohibit access, in accordance with the recommended monitoring program. History of the rock
dumps has been provided in previous annual reports and is not repeated in this discussion. A site map
with piezometer locations is provided as Figure 1.
Water levels in all waste rock dump piezometers showed seasonal fluctuations similaz to those observed
in past years. A chart with 2001 data is provided as Figure 2. A chart with piezometers levels since 1996
is provided as Figure 3.
All data indicates continued normal seasonal influenced variations, with no indication of increasing pore
pressure within the waste rock disposal areas. Revegetation of the waste rock dump surface continues to
progress with increasing densities of successful growth. This slow yet successful revegetation provides
additional stability of the waste rock areas.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at (505) 287-4456.
Very T~r/uly Yours,
/~`~ '~~•
Alan D.
