A reported concentration of 0.061 mgfl total cyanide
was found in [he RS-1 sample (no WAD) and a concentration of 0.02 mg/1 total cyanide (no
WAD) was detected in the RS-2 sample.
It seems rather odd that cyanide would be detected at the RS-1 monitoring station since it is
upstream from all the mining activities that involved cyanide. It could be a false detBCtion or a
lab error or, once again, contaminated collection equipment.
Since the cause is unknown, the Division will require additional sampling at both the RS-1 and
RS-2 surface stations. Analyses results will be submitted to the Division as soon as $MRI
receives them.
If you have any questions, give me a call.
S~cerely,~J(~
ames Dillie
Environmental Protection Specialist
i ~r
