The AHR indicates no problems
with hydrologic impacts at Carbon Junction. There are, however, the following two issues
regarding compliance with sampling and reporting requirements:
1) The operator missed sampling events at the downgradient well, 95-1. Permit page 5-36
calls for semiannual field parameters and semiannual full suite analyses from this well.
Only one full suite analysis was done, and no field parameters were done. The missed
samples create a gap in the monitoring record that hinders identification of trends in
ground water quality, quantity, and flow.
2) The report was submitted three months after the Match 31 deadline that is set forth on
page 4-13 of the mining permit.
cc: Daniel I. Hernandez, CDMG
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Ac[ive and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
