The data submitted in the report appear to
substantiate the prediction of no significant impact to groundwater
or surface water presented in the Probable Hydrologic Consequences
section of the Eastside permit. Please address the following
comments and concerns in a letter to be received by the Division no
later than June 11, 1996:
1) On page 1 of the AHR, it is mentioned that the geotech
well was reclaimed in June of 1995. Therefore,
monitoring is no longer possible at this station. Please
submit a technical revision to the permit which
eliminates the geotech well from the list of required
monitoring stations. The technical revision should
include appropriate historical explanations in the text.
2) On page 2 of the AHR, it is stated that water pumped from
underground is sampled. In future AHR's, please clarify
that water is no longer being pumped from the mine, and
that in the event of a gravity discharge, the discharge
from the mine will be monitored.
3) Paqe 3 of the AHR discusses field and laboratory
conductivity values for the surface water sampling sites.
The numbers presented in the text do not appear to
correspond with the numbers presented in the tables at
the back of the report. Specifically:
a) The text references the December lab
conductivity for the Harvey Gap Outlet-Below
Mine as 859 (units?). However, the table,
entitled "Harvey Gap Outlet-Below Mine," does
