Sherman
Enecutive Director
Ronald W. Cottony
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division has completed its review of the above-referenced report. The results of the
review are summarized in the attached memo. The report was well-prepazed, and it
fulfilled for 2006 the mine operator's requirement to file an annual hydrology report.
The data in the 2006 hydrology report would support a finding by DRMS to approve
deletion of the surface and ground water hydrologic monitoring program in the mine azea,
as allowed by Rule 4.05.13(3)(6). The monitoring program for the mine area could be
terminated upon approval of TR-23, which is in review. Monitoring wells or other
hydrologic monitoring structures in the mine azea will need to stay in place until a final
bond release application for the mine area has been submitted and is found complete.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
/ /atit /~l GL~
Tom Kaldenbach
cc: George Patterson, Kerr Coal Company
Janet Binns, DRMS (via email)
Dan Hernandez, DRMS (via email)
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver Grand Junction Durango Active and Inactive Mines
