Walther
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Acting Division Director
The Division has completed review of the 2001 Annual Hydrology Report for the Blue Ribbon
Mine. We found that, based on monitoring for the yeaz, that the predictions contained within
the probable hydrologic consequences (PHC) section of the permit aze correct or the hydrologic
impact is less than predicted.
Specifically, there was no evidence from the data that there was increased erosion from the
disturbed azea, compazed to the surrounded undisturbed area.
There was no impact from oil and grease since machinery hasn't been present on the site for
many years.
The prediction that there would be increased salt load in Hubbazd Creek caused by water transit
through the backfilled bench azea was not demonstrated by the data from the Creek itself.
"Snapshots" of Hubbazd Creek conductivity show ambiguous results, but certainly no
systematic increase in the content of total dissolved solids from upstream to downstream past the
disturbed azea.
Thank you for the timely submission of the report. If you have any questions, please feel free to
call me.
Sint . l yf``~ -,~'~~2X~C
Burnell
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Sandy Brown
