Cottony
Division Director
Natual Resource Trustee
The Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) has received a response (WWC letter of November 14,
2005) to the Division letter of July l 1, 2005, regarding the adequacy of the subject report. We have
completed a review of the response, and complement you and WWC for the information provided and
amendments to the report. Upon approval of proposed revisions to the Permit Application Package (PAP),
all adequacy items will be addressed to the satisfaction of the Division. We anticipate the amendments to
the PAP for the following items of the Division letter and WWC response
Item 4. The different version of pages 4.6-54 and 4.6-144 explains the lack (since 1996) of April
monitoring for TR-1.5, TR-3, and TR-4. A search of the files and records at the Division has not
recovered a version such as WWC provided on September 15, 2005. Insertion of the correct page would
not alter the monitoring program in (since at least 1996) effect. Therefore, submission of a minor revision
as proposed is appropriate. Please update Table 4.6-54 (page 4.6-144) to reflect other approved changes
(TCS-1 monitoring, piezometer wells, etc.) as well.
Item 7. A minor revision to the PAP to correct the typographic error designation (TRS-1) of TCS-1 on
page 4.6-147 (line 34) (should read TCS-1) is appropriate.
Items 9 and 10. Please take care, during any revision, to keep the historical (clarified as may be
appropriate) predicted probable hydrologic impacts to Trout Creek in the PAP. These were predicted
impacts at that time. The prediction needs to be updated (additions) to recognize information now
available, as WWC proposes, if warranted.
Please call me if you have any questions.
Yours truly,
~.~.,- ..--f Gr/
Byron Walker, EPS
cc: Beth Hessen, WWC Engineering, 61 I Skyline Road, Laramie, WY 82070
files: C-1980-001, 2004 AHR
C:\bgw\My Documen[slEdna\AHRs\AHR 2004 adequacy response letter.doc
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
