I:I Natwa~ Itnsowces Re: 1983 Annual Report, Henderson Mining Permit No. 77-342 Dear Mr. O'Connor: The Henderson mine operated at a reduced level during the past year. Reclamation at the mine and mill was pursued, as in the past, in a timely manner. The Grade B molybdenum circuit was intermittently operational from January 3 to April 30 and from November 14 to December 9 for reprocessing of regular grade concentrate to supply the demand for that product. Our average total work force for the first eleven months of the year was 245 people. Mine and mill operations were resumed in January 1984 with an initial target production rate of 10,000 tons per day on a five-day schedule. Reclamation of construction disturbances was conducted as necessary and response of previously treated areas was monitored. Construction projects such as Lost Creek Reservoir and the interceptor canal were on hold during the 1983 season and therefore created no new disturbances to reclaim. These projects and others will likely be inactive during the 1984 season. Modest quantities of seed and fertilizer were placed in select areas. Precipitation was above average throughout the growing season and revege- tated areas responded positively. With the exception of a few tons in December, tailing deposition did not occur during 1983. You are already aware of the tailing water bypass which occurred from May 2 to July 11. The net effect of the bypass and tailing deposition is that we have not increased the acreage inundated by tailing. In addition, all other disturbed areas remain essentially unchanged from one year ago.
