DMG Permit No. M-88-112 ~ March 2002 Monthly Sampling ~_ Dear Mr. Dillie: All required sampling was completed during the month. The water treatment plant discharged a total of 8,197,200 gallons of water (25.16-acre feet) to Rito Seco Creek during the month. All surface water stations were inspected weekly and RS-3, RS-4 and RS-6 was found to be dry. Vacuum on the lysimeters was verified and no water was present to sample. The piezometers on the main embankment of the tailing impoundment were checked on March 31, the piezometers were dry or contained below 12 inches of water. The west pit piezometers were measured for depth to water on March 31, with the following results: BF-1 was 28.67 ft., BF-2 was 32.36 ft., BF-4 was 25.93 ft. and BF-6 was 31.82 ft. Other piezometers in the West Mine area were also checked with the following results: PW-1 was 29.27 ft., PW-2 was 29.63 ft., PW-3 was 36.78 ft. and PW-4 was 31.51 ft. The underdrain was measured at approximately 42 gpm. The collection pond leak detection system was pumped on the 31st of this month. This is the first time the system was pumped due to frozen conditions since November 29, 2001 or in 122 days. A total of 2,699 gallons was pumped on the 31st of March giving 22.1 gpad. Seepage along Rito Seco Creek remained dry throughout the month. With DMG approval a total of 816,300 gallons (2.51-acre feet) of water was pumped from Water Treatment Plant to the tailing impoundment during the month. P.O.
