BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES, INC. ~/
July 7, 2002
Mr. Jim Dillie / RE~~~~J E®
Division of Minerals and Geology / )u~ 1 ~ ZQQZ
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203 Division of Minerals and Geology
Subject: Battle Mountain Resources, Inc. S9-~ (,t,l,rS P/~CY.d.e~'
CMLRB Permit No. M-88-112
June 2002 Monthly Report
Dear Mr. Dillie:
The following summarizes monitoring and site activities at the Battle Mountain Resources
Inc., San Luis Project for the month of June 2002.
Surface and ground water monitoring of all required monitoring sites were completed
during the month. All surface water stations were inspected and recorded daily, these daily
recordings identified readings at RS-1, RS-2, RS-3 and RS-5 of zero (0) inches and RS-4
and RS-6 were dry. Stream monitoring site RS-3 was dry throughout the second quarter of
2002; therefore, no sample was collected at that site during second quarter 2002.
Vacuum on the tailing lysimeters was verified during the month, no water was present for
sampling and subsequent analysis as indicated in Table 1.
Depths to water were collected for the tailing impoundment main embankment and the
west pit piezometers/monitoring wellson June 27°' and 28`x'. The tailing impoundment
piezometer measurements identified these installations were either dry or contained less
than 12 inches of water. Table 1 below identifies the depth to water measurements
collected for each of the site monitoring wells and piezometers.
The tailing impoundment collection pond underdrain flow was measured during the period
of June 10`h through June 14`h. The average underdrain flow determined during this period
of time was 44.2 gpm. A total of 575 gallons of water was evacuated from the leak
detection system on June 28`h yielding a monthly average of 19.166 gpad. This average is
reduced from last month's average.
The West Pit water treatment plant operated effectively discharging a total of 8,929,800
gallons of water (27.41-acre feet) to Rito Seco Creek during the month, a total of 890,400
gallons (2.73 acre-feet) of water was transferred from the water treatment plant to the
P.O. Box 310 San Luis, Colorado 81152-0310 (719) 379-0798 Fax (719) 379-0713
