This pit HAS NOT been granted a Temporary
Cessation and it HAS operated more than 180 days this year. The
Financial Warranty for this operation is $1,123,000.00, the
permitted area is 1,239.40 ac. and the pit is divided into 9
Reclamation Phases. An amendment was approved on August 25, 2004
allowing development of Longhorn Lake and a portion of Sharkeys
Lake as developed water storage.
Please refer to the annual report map attached for the
location of the areas discussed in this permit. We have chosen
to use an excerpt from the Mining Plan Map showing just the
disturbed area. We will deal specifically with each of the
Annual Report requirements outlined in Rule 1.15 of the Rules and
Regulations and the annual notice letter.
(1) Mining was temporarily suspended on the terrace deposit
covering 11.00 acres ± in the Highlands Lake area (dark
green). Mining continued on the 23.81 acres ± section of
Sharkey Lake north of the existing Plant Site and on 44.42
acres ± in the reservoir area (brown hatch). Most of this
area has been excavated below the water table so no reclama-
tion is needed at this time. The Plant site and material
storage area covers 25.00 acres ± (orange hatch). We have
approximately 85,000 yd3 of topsoil and waste rock stored on
13.23 acres around the mining area (tan). The topsoil will
be saved and used for reclamation. The ponds cover approxi-
mately 10.10 ac ± (blue). Slurry wall construction on the
Sharkeys Lake area was completed in January 2007.
(2) Grading, shaping and resoiling was completed in the High-
lands Lake area this spring as approved in the permit. The
slope were seeded in the fall of 2006. Part of the area
mined north of the Plant Site was refilled to reduce the
exposed water surface. Installation of riprap was completed
