Economic condition in the area were not
what we expected and we continued to mine in Stage 1. The U. S.
Fish and Wildlife Service has requested we leave 8.76 acres ± of
the existing wetlands (lite green) on the west pait of the property
as well as 8.41 acres ± of rip ripen habitat in the north central
area or the pit (dark green). They believe this will improve the
wildlife habitat along the river. Please refer to the Annual Report
Map attached Yor locations of the areas discussed in this text.
We will deal specifically with each of the Annual Report questions
as outlined in Section 2.41 of the Rules and Regulations.
2.41
(11
Mining continued on the west side of the Stage 1 lake area
disturbed in previous years. In addition 1.09 acres ± west
of the west entrance road was stripped and partially mined.
Currently in Stage 1 we have 11.97 acres ± stripped but ont
mined (brown); 16.32 acres ± partially mined (lite blue); and
5.00 acres ± mined to total depth (dark blue). in addition
2.37 acre ± is topsoil stockpile area containing approximately
65,776 YD (gray). Stage 5 is still used as processing plant
sites. Please refer to the 1988-89 Annual Report Map.
(2) No reclamation was required this year. Stage 1 has 35.66 acres
± disturbed to date, approximately 21.32 acres is lake area.
Bank sloping, topsoil re-spreading and tevegetation will be
done when mining is complete in Stage 1. Stage L reclamation
appears to be complete.
