Montgomery Pit, MLR No. M-86-104 TAX ID# Our files indicate that the anniversary date for this permit is May 24, 1991. Mining commenced in this year for the first time. As allowed in the approved plan we stripped the area from the 25 toot ditch setback north to the river setback in Stage 1. We will deal specifically with each of the Annual Report questions as outlined in Section 2.41 of the Rules and Regula- tions. 2.4.1 (1) Mining started in Stage 1 this year. We stripped and partially mined 8.09 acres ± in Stage Z (tan) and are using 4.54 acres ± of the Shop Area in Stage 2 (yellow) for stockpiling processed material and equipment. Consistent with the approved plan we have established the slope from the 25 foot ditch setback to the bottom of the pit. and have installed the river protection berm along the north side of Stage 1. Note the location of the topsoil stock piles (brown) along the north sides of Stages 1 and 2. The total area disturbed to date is 12.63 acres +. (2) No Reclamation was required this year. In 1989 we planted approximately 300 bare root seedling along the south property line from west of the access road to the west property line. We had very little success in establishing these trees. Of the seedling planted all died or were eaten by wildlife (mice, rabbits, deer, etc.). Until the ditch is moved we do not feel tree plantings along this area will be successful due to lack of water for the plants.
