DMG Permit No. M-88-112
Monthly Sampling
Dear Mr. Dillie
All required sampling was completed during the month of June. Enclosed are analytical reports
from Sangre De Cristo Lab (SDC) and Acculabs for the recent monthly sampling period as specified
in the April 1992 Abatement Plan. The cross-reference table between sample identification
numbers, sample types and sample locations is also attached. Analysis that have not been
received will be forwarded to you as I receive them.
All surface water stations were inspected and RS-4 and RS-6 were found to be dry.
Vacuum on the lysimeters was verified and no water was present to sample.
When we checked the piezomelers on the main embankment of the tailings impoundment on
06/30/99, the piezomelers were dry or contained well below 12 inches of water.
The two west pit piezomelers were measured for depth to water on 06/30/99, with the following
result: BF-I was 10.90 ft and BF-2 was 14.50 fi. The other piezomelers in the West Mine area were also
checked with the following result: PW-I was 16.40 ft, PW-2 was 14.40 ft, PW-3 was 22.40 ft and PW-4
was 25.0 ft.
The underdrain was measured at approximately 26 gpm
The collection pond's leak detection system was sampled and pumped dry. The leak was
measured at approximately 42 GPAD.
By the end of June the evaporation system was nearing completion. On July 02, 1999 two of the
evaporators were placed in operation.
As anticipated in the TR-26 report we added containment and two additional pumps in the seep
area. The newly contained water is also pumped to the infiltration trench.
