J. Mucklow, Routt County Extension
Director, Colorado State University, inspected the Kerr Mine and
made the following recommendations for grazing in 1994 (copy of
addendum is attached):
1. Graze in late summer (Mid August) after
the grasses have matured.
2. Reduce stocking rate to 68 AUM's.
3. Graze all the animal units in the shortest
amount of time practical, thus graze 68 cows
for 30 days.
On August 9, 1994, C. J. Mucklow wrote to Kerr Coal
recommending that the 1994 grazing plan not be implemented due to
the excessive dry conditions at the Kerr Mine.
The Kerr Mine has received much moisture this spring and
we propose to implement grazing per the 1994 recommendations.
The area and acreage to be grazed will be the same as in
the previous years.
1
