The annual fee has been submitted separately.
We appreciate your understanding in the delay of this report. This is the third report
showing the permit area as revised in 2002, incorporating both the Four States
Aggregates (4SA) operation and the Montezuma County operations. Since May 2004,
mining has continued. Due to somewhat better winter precipitation, operations were
interrupted for a portion of the winter. The area (at the extreme north) of 13.5 acres
which we proposed to disturb in 2004-2005 was not, but 0.9 acres (in the southwest
corner) which we had not expected to disturb, was in fact affected during this reporting
period. The increase in spring and winter precipitation has helped reclamation
significantly, and we will request reclamation on 26.3 acres in 2005, which is somewhat
less than anticipated in our 2004 report, due to failure of seeding in part of Area A.
Previously released reclaimed areas remain in good condition, although weed control is
still a critical concern to the landowner and the operators.
Land Status Areea a Remarks/Ma reference
Reclaimed and released 55.7 Releases in 2001, 2003, No than a in 2004.
Reclaimed, and release requested for this year. 26.3 Vegetation improved due to good precipitation;
includes part of area A, reseeded in Fall 2003.
Reduced fiom 35.8 in 2004.
Brought to final reclamation grade but only temporarily 50.4 Includes part of area A (reclaimed but not released
seeded or not yet seeded (used for stockpile and tratfic) and redislurbed this year) and area E (18,2 acres,
which is planned for placement of topsoil and
seedin this fall .Reduced from 66.1 in 2004.
Currently mining and plant operations areas 26.0 Includes 0.9 acres newly disturbed in 2004; reduced
from 46.8 acres in 2004.
Total affected to date 158.4 102.7 acres still disturbed.
Areas which may be disturbed during next reporting period 22.1 Maximum area, based on foretaste and current
mini , as well as stri in anlici ated.
Total 180.5 Up from 171.2 in 2004, of 460 acres total in permit
area.
