111 IIIIIIIIIIIII III
999
STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Governor
~ ~y
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Dlreetor
DATE: March 22, 1989 - 9 a.m.
T0: Cathy Begej
FROM: Matt Hayes
RE: Blue Ribbon Annual Hydrology Report 1988; C-81-047
I have performed a cursory review of the Blue Ribbon Annual Hydrology Report
and have filed it appropriately in the notebook which cumulatively documents
the data collected at that site. Monitoring was performed as described in the
hydrologic monitoring plan on pages 124 and 124a of the permit application.
I am still concerned about water levels in the Blue Ribbon bench as reflected
by the piezometers. (See March 10, 1988 Memo to Susan Mowry in the
Surface Water/Monitoring file). Water levels are higher than the geotechnical
design utilized for the stability calculations. I would recommend that a
stability analysis be re-done during the next Mid-term or Permit Renewal and
that inspectors should look for signs of sloughing or scarps. The quarterly
records check should result in the evaluation of recent water level data.
Settlement monument data should also be checked regularly.
I have prepared three (3) documents for your
the Annual Hydorology Report, a xerox of the
reductions of the piezometer level graphs.
included in the field folder.
use: a letter to the operator on
monitoring location map and
The latter two (2) should be
ern
4446E
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
