The report addresses the information requested in the format approved by the Division as a result of
Minor Revision No. 96. The report includes profiles, a discussion of the survey schedule, mining advance,
subsidence results, and visual effects. Tables of the subsidence monitoring data are also included. These
tables show the northings, eastings, pre-mining elevations, survey elevations of the current monitoring, previous
(July 1997) elevations, and the subsidence for the current reported period (July 1997 to October 1997) and total
subsidence.
The 1997 Year-end Subsidence Report also addresses the concerns the Division raised in correspondence,
dated August 28, 1997 and October 22, 1997. The main concern expressed in the two letters was in regard to
the limited information provided on visual observations of subsidence features. MCC has taken the Division's
recommendations into consideration for the preparation of the 1997 Year-end Subsidence Report. MCC has
collected mare specific information regarding visual observations made on subsidence cracks, which was
completed by MCC's contractor, and is included with the report. In addition, MCC has provided a map in the
1997 report which shows the location of the features observed. Aerial photographs have also been provided.
MCC would appreciate receiving a copy of the Roadside Mine's visual monitoring report, as offered by Jim
Pendleton in his memo to you. This will assist MCC in ensuring that future reports meet the Division's
expectations.
If you have any questions please contact me or Kathy Welt.
Sincere ,
Henry A. rbe
Environm tal Coordinator
Enclosures: Subsidence Profiles
Mine Advance Map
Subsidence Tables
Results of Fieid Investigations on the North Face of Jumbo Mountain (August 6, 1997)
1 Set Intrasearch Aerial Photographs (Stereo Pairs) 10/9/97, 21 Photos (3741-53 through 3741-72)
xc: C.
