This annual report covers the period from January 6,
2005 to January 5, 2006. It addresses only gravel mining on the site
at this time. Until enough gravel is removed to expose the underlying
clay, no report for that material is needed. This pit HAS NOT been
granted a Temporary Cessation and it HAS operated more than 180 days
this year. The approved bond amount is $84,600 covering 95.07 acres
±, and the facility has one mining stage and one reclamation phase.
The bond was evaluated in November 2003 so no bond evaluation is
attached this year. Please refer to the attached 2005 Annual Report
Map for the areas discussed in this text.
We will deal specifically with the Annual Report requirements as
outlined in Rule 1.15 of the Rules and Regulations and those noted in
the annual letter.
(1) The map prepared for this report shows a total of 33.83 acres has
been stripped on the southern end of the mine to prepare it for
mining (yellow/brown). The current bond covers 35.00 acres ± of
disturbance. Mining is taking place in the partially mined area
that is colored brown, this area covers 24.60 ac. ± of the
stripped area. Material mined is processed at the plant located
on the Church Pit that adjoins this mine on the west. Stoller
Construction completed the landfill closure project this fall.
The two interior haul roads they built across the permit area for
hauling material to their project site remain but will eventually
be removed as mining progresses into the area the roads lie on.
Church Ranch nor Centennial Aggregates had nothing to do with
constructing these roads. Where the roads lay outside the permit
area D.O.E. and Stoller are responsible for reclaiming them.
Growth medium is being stockpiled in berms on the mine area for
use in reclamation. We completed the berm along the south side
of the permit area near where the old Rocky Flats West Entrance
road was built. This berm is approximately 17 feet north of the
permit line. In addition, we began placing reclamation material
along the northern part of the east permit line for use when
reclamation begins in that area.
(2) No reclamation was required this year. The site berms will be
revegetated when they are complete. This berm is required by the
county permit.
