. • . , iii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ~
VALCO, INC.
PUEBLO CONCRETE DIVISION
P. O. BOX 857
® PUEBLO, COLORADO 81002
(303) 56 18350
March 26, 1985
Mined Land Reclamation
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Annual Report MLR Permit Ik77-573 ~ .- ;Jijr
Valco, Inc. - Pueblo West Pit
,
Dear Sirs:
Valco annual-report of the above referenced pit.
1. Stage II mining was continued in 1984. 9.9 acres were
mined beginning at the eastern edge of the 1983 mining area. Area,
580 feet wide, .900 feet long with one corner of the area 335'x270'
not mined as of yet.
2. Reclamation in Stage I was almost done with dirt hauled in for
sloping. Lake was pumped down and sloping was being finalized. Water turned
down river caused excess seepage and this in turner caused all the dirt sloping
to slip into lake. We have now placed concrete rip rap along shore line
under the water. This will be covered with dirt to complete sloping. We
have about 20% of the shore to finish with the sloping on Stage I~. We have
sloped about 300' on the south bank of Stage II.
3. We are going to move our larger trees from the area we have yet
to mine to the banks of the ponds in stage one. This would complete that
reclamation.
4. 1985 mining year - We will mine approximately ten acres in
Stage II and III. We will complete the reclamation in Stage I.
5. Our mining schedule has changed this past nine months Eor the
for the following reasons:
(a) The area in Stage II for the last nine months has not had as much
gravel depth, therefore, we are using more surface area.
(b) We assumed the assets of Fountain Sand 6 Gravel, so our
usage of gravel from this pit the last half of 1984
increased.
ROCKY FORD LAMAR CANON CITY
