C-92-080 Divicion of nnlnerals s Ueoloyy
Dear Mr. Ranney:
Please be advised that Goff Engineering & Surveying, Inc. has been hired by
Oakridge Energy to provide the required reviews and reports for the subject mining permit.
This information was previously provided on an annual basis by Mr. Darry A. Ferguson, P.E., of
Petrotech International Corporation. From our discussion, it is my understanding that the
reports must now be made on a quarterly basis. This report is for the fourth quarter of 1995.
This is to confirm that members of my staff, under my direct supervision, and myself
conducted examinations of the subject mine facilities on October 12, 18, 20. In addition,
Lambert & Associates, geotechnical engineers, subcontracted to check densities and slopes
on the fill pile, and were on site on November 16 and 21 and December 1, 1995. Operations
on the site were temporarily shut down on December 15, for the holidays, and won't reopen
until January 2, 1996.
During these examinations, we found the following items to be in reasonable
compliance with the applicable sections of the mining permit, except as othervvise noted:
1. The haul road within the permit boundary.
2. Topsoil storage.
3. Collection ditches.
4. Diversion ditches.
5. Sediment ponds Nos. 1 & 2.
6. Highwall slopes.
7. Fill storage: Since new activity has commenced on the gravel operation
permit (Ewing Mesa Pit #1 Permit No. M-92-116), overburdent and waste
material has been transported (since approximately June, 1995) to and placed
on the fill storage site designated for the subject permit. The attached report
covers the placement, compaction, slopes and potential sediment load which
potentially may be directed to Sediment Pond No. 2.
