BANTA, Dlrsctor
DATE: July 19, 1989 -\
T0: Larry Rout ten \J ~-
1~`l~
FROM: Jim Pendleton ' ~c-~-~-
RE: Twin P~es o. ermit Renewal - Subsidence Section Adequacy
(Permit No. C-83-058)
I have reviewed the Permit renewal application submitted by Twin Pines
Investment Limited Partnership for its Twin Pines Coal Mine No. 2. I have
also reviewed the original permit application documents and submittals
completed since permit issuance.
The original permit application reported that no structures existed within the
potentially affected area. In addition, the lands affected have potential
uses including non-commercial woodland, livestock grazing, and wildlife
habitat. The applicant concluded "that no material damage or diminution of
reasonably foreseeable use could result in the event of mine subsidence." No
subsidence monitoring program was proposed.
The Division concurred with the operator's opinions and approved the
"Subsidence Survey, Subsidence Monitoring, and Subsidence Control Plan"
section, as submitted. No subsidence impacts have been observed since
commencement of mining at the Twin Pines Coal Mine No. 2. Therefore, I
recommend that the subsidence portion of the permit renewal application,
identical to that of the original permit application, be approved as submitted.
cc: Jim Stevens
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
