The
development of a water level monitoring program is in response to comments received
from your office regarding the permit application.
The plan proposes to use existing wells for monitoring water levels outside of the
proposed slurry wall liner. The Division of Water Resources well record tabulations was
utilized to determine wells that would be suitable for monitoring. Six existing wells were
chosen at locations around the mining site. The wells were field verified and the owners
were contacted for preliminary approval. The enclosed map indicates [he location of the
six wells in relation to the permitted mining boundary.
The La[orra Well No. 1 and Well #33142, owned by James Fukaye and Mariam Bromley
respectively, are located on the northern edge of the permitted mining boundary. Well
#13585R and Well #110 are located within the permit boundary, but will remain outside
of the slurry wall. These two wells are owned and controlled by [he applicant. Well
#2366F and Well #2732F are owned by Florentino Gamueda and Duella W. Ford
respectively, and are located along the western edge of the permitted mining boundary.
These wells will provide a good representation of the groundwater level reaction to the
proposed mining operation/slunywah installation.
The wells will be monitored by an employee of Tuttle Applegate or CAMAS on a
monthly basis. All water level measurements will be taken after the pumps have been
inactive for a sufficient length of time to allow the groundwater to reach a static level.
11990 Grant St. • Suite 304 • Denver, CO 80233 5441 Boeing Drive. • Suite 200 • Loveland, CO 80536-8855
(303) 452-6611 • Fax (303) 452-2759 (970) 461-9884 • Fax (970) 613-1177
