III IIIIIilllllll III <br /> <br />Doc Date:1 211 112 0 0 1 <br />S~ ~ <br />RULE 2.04 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND M <br />Af.TTVTTTFS _ MTNTMIIM RFnIITRFMFNTC FnR iNF(1RMATT(1N (i <br />2.04.1 Ob.iectives <br />This section provides a detailed, complete and accurate description <br />of the environmental resources that may be impacted or affected by <br />the surface mining activities which will be conducted by GEC Miner- <br />als, Inc. at its current and proposed mining operation. <br />2.04.2 Responsibilities <br />GEC Minerals, Inc. has included within this application a descrip- <br />tion of the existing pre-mining environmental resources within the <br />mine plan and adjacent areas that will be affected by the surface <br />• mining activities which it plans. Mining activity in this area <br />which GEC Minerals, Inc. proposes to permit and mine, has occurred <br />in varying forms during the past 50 to 60 years. As a result, <br />baseline environmental information as it existed prior to mining is <br />based on historical records, recollections of knowledgeable parties <br />and through correlations and comparisons with undisturbed environ- <br />mental resources. GEC Minerals, Inc. has provided all available <br />information concerning the potential environmental impacts on the <br />area which it plans to mine during the next five years. Some of <br />this information as provided by the SOAP contractor is not complete. <br />The current schedule for completion of this information is expected <br />to be approximately March 15, 1981. In addition, GEC Minerals, <br />Inc. has utilized all additional available information from the <br />local and state governmental agencies and from previous work com- <br />pleted for the amendment to the Mining and Reclamation Permit No. <br />77-48. <br />• <br />2.04-i <br />
