O'Connor, Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation Board
1313 Sherman Street - Room 423
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Peter:
This is an application for an open pit sand and gravel mining
operation. The mining area is 75.75 acres in size and was
formerly permitted under the names of Sandy Acres (1181-159) by
the Colorado Sand and Gravel Company, and the Pinewood Estates or
Henderson Development Pit (1180-110 y the Henderson Development
Company. Since this combined operation is being mined by the
Colorado Sand and Gravel Company, it was decided to replace these
two existing permits with one.
The mining will be both a dry and wet pit operation, with dry
mining to water table (+30), and then up 45 feet of wet mining to
the bottom of the resource. Mining will be allowed within 10' of
the abutting rights-of-way as per previous County approval. Along
Nome Street and 132nd Avenue, the land will be backfilled to make
the platted lots useable for future development. This is made
possible by utilizing the dredge operation, since this type of
mining produces considerable reject material.
Upon completion of mining, approximately half of the property
will be in two lakes. The final slopes will be a minimum of 2 to
1, except for 5' above and 10' below waterline where there will
he 3 to 1 slopes. The slopes and backfilled areas will be
revegetated with low maintenance grasses.
The required exhibits are attached, please let me know if you
need anything further.
Sincerely,
Robert N ~Fle ing
\ P16:M.PLAN..81.9AR
~~~~~~ ~[hC~
SEP Z 5 1~~
MINED LAND
RECLAMATION DIVISION
Page 1
