. ~-.i~~ ~ III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
III IIIIIIIII~'lllll RECEIVED
AUG 21 1997

Division of Mmerais .x vooiog,
August 19, 1997
To Whom It May Concern:
ATTN: Larry Oehler
Re: Parkdale Project
Permit Application #II2
File #M-97-054
I am very concerned about the proposed mining. I live just east of this
sight, and am concerned about our safety and we.ter.
#I. There are rock cliffs right out of our back door. I have lived here
for ten years with no problems. With blastii'Ig r'i~ht next door xhat
effect x111 this have on these rocks? No one can give me a stright
answer on this matter. Mr. Fehr says by standing in my yard he doee^
not think there xould be a problem. How can he tell? Our county
commissioners say if these rocks fall through our home, then they
will deal xith the problem. If this would happen I hope my family
lives through it. I feel this matter should be looked into before
the fact, not after.
#2. Water: Water is a very priceless resource in our area. We have a
spring fed well. The mining company said they would pressure test
xells, but if anything happens to our water we have to prove they
were the cause. They want to test pressure coming out of well, not
xhat the flew is coming into the well.
No one seems to be able to answer these questions. I feel these are
concerns for my familys well being. We would not be able to afford all of
the legal fees to fight this company if something should go xrong. Mr. Fehr
said if xe lose our water or rocks crash through our home, then xe can sue
them. I feel like that is saying to bad for us.
High wall mining. They talk of reclamation, how do you reclaim this type
of destruction. There are creeks that run through this land and it is a
natur~.l: flood plain. There are many inactive faults that run through this
area. What effect will blasting and mining have on these?
