Dept. nt l~atu~a4 Rasnurces
Re: Rozman Pit
File 11 31-14
Dear Bob
In regard to your letter of Afarch 9, 1931, I will address the items
as listed.
1. Afining Plan
The Corps of Engineers is familiar with this pit and no 404
Permit is required.
2. Reclamation Plan
Perhaps my description of the operation is not clear enough, but
topsoil should not be stockpiled for long enough to cause deter-
ioration. 13 to 24 months should be the maximum time in stockile.
[de could seed the stockpiles with yellow sweet clover if you think
it is necessary.
It does not appear that the degree of slope is severe enough to
require erosion control measures. Naturally the applicant does not
want to be operating equipment over an eroded pit floor. Gravel
plating of the pit floor will be a natural part of the operation.
If water bars are needed they will be installed. Note that in Exhibit
"B", Vicinity i1ap, an old railroad grade lies between the major
pit area and the Slate River. This dill help prevent erosion and any
runoff into tl~e Slate River.
3. Seeding Mixture
The operator will agree to the increased seed requirement.
4. Vegetative Information
A quantitative description of vegetative cover eaould be sparse to
moderate.
4. Reclamation Costs
The operator caould agree to provide a $15,000.00 bond.
5. Local Government Approval
You should have already received a copy of Gunnison County Planning
Commission approval, and a letter of approval from t}ie Board of County'
Commissioners should be in your hand shortly or in the mail.
