Box 596 <br />Fort Morgan, Colorado 80701 <br />Re: Kula Gravel Pit -File No. M-85-200 <br />Dear Mr. Williams: <br />The above application may not conform with the total requirements o intent of <br />the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Bo rd. The <br />items below specify remaining concerns regarding your application a d suggest, <br />where appropriate, viable solutions and alternatives for problems discussed. <br />Please respond accordingly no later than December 17, 1985 to allow ime for <br />staff review prior to the scheduled Board meeting. <br />1. Topsoil must be salvaged from all areas to be disturbed, including <br />plant and stockpile areas. The Division recommends that tops it be <br />stockpiled within the permit boundary perimeter, seeded for s ability, <br />and identified with a sign. <br />2. Please describe how timber and slash will be removed from the site. <br />The Division recommends that timber be cut and bunched into f'rewood <br />and disposed of in a way agreed upon with the landowner. Sla h and <br />tree timber should be windrowed and burned in compliance with local <br />ordinances, or dumped at a legal and identifies landfill. <br />3. Please provide a more descriptive map (Exhibit C) that shows he extent <br />of each area of disturbance and clearly identified the follow'ng: <br />a. Permit boundary <br />b. Topsoil stockpile locations <br />c. Plant area <br />d. Stockpile area <br />e. Pond area. Please describe the shape and extent of the p nd. <br />Please create a pond that is irregular at the edges and n t <br />geometrical in order to provide optimum water fowl habita This <br />irregularity should be illustrated on your map. <br />4. The Division has forwarded a copy of your application to the tate <br />Engineer's Office. Prior to the creation of any pond, be sur you <br />would be in compliance with State Water Law.
