Long
Division Director
In response to [he question about importing brick and concrete rubble which you wrote to me about, and which we
recently discussed by phone, 1 have some information which should help when you arrive at that point where you
might start bringing such material into the permit area.
First, you will not nezd to file another technical revision with us, unless use of such imported material changes your
mining and/or reclamation plan. You stated that you will not be processing the rubble nor leaving it on the surface.
It is planned that i[ will all be backfilled in your pit during reclamation, and covered by native material to dte proper
depth and slope and revegetated. Yo11 also stated that the site will not become the "local landfill", so a Department
of Health license will not he required.
However, before commencing the project of importing the rubble into your permit area, you must provide this
office ~vi[h a Notice describing the project and the material. Please refer to Rule 3.1.5(9) for further information
about the Notice. You will have to characterize the material and the source, describe how it will be handled on the
site and the final reclamation. Judging from our discussion about this, I doubt if your bond will change as a result
of this project. That will be determined at such time as you submit more information.
If you have a,ty questions, please contact me at the Division's Durango field office: 970/247-5193.
Sincerely,
~y~ ~~
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
~'T A Tr
1111111111111111 I I I~ F
a:\bachus imp fill/rco
