The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) received objections to the Natural Resource Trustee
application for the
Valco T Pit on June 30 and July 9, 2004.
Therefore, staff has scheduled the matter for a Formal Public Hearing before the Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Board, for consideration. The hearing for consideration of the Valco T Pit permit will occur
during the September 22nd-23rd. 2004 Board meeting at 1313 Sherman Street, Room 318, Denver,
Colorado, Commencing at 10:00 a.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter can be considered. Parties
and interested persons will have the opportunity to be heard at that hearing.
A Pre-hearing Conference has been scheduled to occur on August 20. 2004, beginning at 11:00 a.m.,
at the Las Animas County Courthouse. The courthouse is located at 200 East First Street in Trinidad,
Colorado and the meeting will be held in Room 201, Ms. Sandra Brown will preside as Pre-hearing
Conference Officer. The purpose of the Pre-hearing Conference is to describe the Office's review
process, to explain the rights and responsibilities of parties, to discuss and resolve issues to the extent
possible, to describe the Board Hearing processes, to determine the list of issues under the Board's
jurisdiction and to simplify the list, and to determine who has demonstrated standing to be a party to the
Formal Board Hearing.
Please review the enclosed informational memo, dated October 2, 2001, RE: Citizen Participation in the
112 Reclamation Permit Application Process Revised October 19, 2001, and complete either of the last
two pages, if applicable, and return the completed form to DMG or bring the completed form to the Pre-
hearing Conference.
