Dear Editor:
On March 15, 2001, the
Department of Minerals and
Geology met with concerned cit-
izens of Dolores in regazd to Val
Truelsen's Line Camp gravel pit
application. Do you lmow what I
found out?
They have no data on. the'
effects of multiple pits in close
prwdmity :This means they did-
n't. do their homework nor do
they have enough information.
And they still might get
approved with such little lmowl-
edge. of how it could affect our
Dolores River Valley, McPhee
Reservoir, and all the users of
this water, This is a big pptential
threat to our water system and
they have no. data .
They have no data on the
ground water which affects and
might pollute wells, drinking
water and river water.
They. have no data on how it
might .affect the quality and
quantity of our drinking water
supply and'river water used for
irrigation and how .'about ,our
animals.
The Line Camp Plts, if .they
are approved, 'are in the'I00
yeaz flood zone, 'and will be ~
below the water table.
They have no.data nor do they
have a'map that shows all of the
pits that have been mined, nor
the ones that are in progress,
nor the two more pits tt#ey have
Just approved.

can do something fo help pre-
serve the Dolores River Valley,
and tell them to take their pits
