Stevens
Senior Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Minerals & Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Rm. 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Baca County, Gunkel Pit x/31, File No. M-93-088
Dear Mr. Stevens:
This office has reviewed your correspondence of December 3, 1993
concerning the above proposed project.
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
A search of the Colorado Cultural Resource Inventory has indicated that
there are no known sites located within the boundaries of this project.
However, the location of this proposed pit makes it highly probable that
prehistoric and historic sites may be present. If there have been no
extensive land altering activities in the project area, we recommend Chat
a cultural resource survey be undertaken to determine if e igible cultural
resources will be impacted by project activities. This is~one in
accordance with the Colorado Register of Historic Places Act (24-80.1).
If we may be of further assistance please contact Jim Creen at 866-4674.
Sincerely,
~~1~.~~
James E. Hartmann
State Historic Preservation Officer
JEN/WJG
